Hello Fellow Warwick Residents,

It's an election year, and as we all know, the financial challenges facing both our City and our schools are daunting, to say the least.

With that in mind, I'm running for the School Committee District 1 seat on the Warwick School Committee with the goal of insuring that, while navigating these difficult financial seas, we don’t lose sight of our children in the process.  In short, we have to put our children and their education first!  As both the father of three children in the Warwick Schools and a taxpayer, I have a vested interest in ensuring that we continually improve the education offered by our schools, while at the same time looking out for the person who “pays the freight” – the taxpayer.

I think we can all agree there are ways to accomplish this without sending Warwick broke in the process.

Our goals and expectations must include - but not be limited to:

  • Providing all our students with a high quality education, from high quality teachers and high quality administrators.
  • Expecting that those entrusted with spending our education dollars do so wisely and efficiently - as if it were their own money.
  • Expecting that the results we receive from our schools are equal to our investment in them.
  • Using technology to communicate with and make it easier for parents to be more involved in their child's education.
  • Planning for the long term decline in our student population.  In 1999 we had roughly 12,000 students in our schools, in 2009 we had 10,500, and in 2019 we’re projected to have 9,200 students.

I hope you join me in sharing these sentiments!  Let me know what matters, what you think and more - send me an email at info@davidtesta.comBecause at the end of the day, someone’s schools system has to be the best – why not ours?

Thank you!
